Ah, him.

He made lunch for fussy-girl eater (that’d be me) and it was perfectly thoughtfully me-centric. Wraps with yummiest things and a wonderful Lime and Chipotle dressing. Water. There was a huge tub of strawberries and oranges segmented, but we talked so much they never were consumed.

If I leave fresh fruit untouched, I’m feeling something unusual. Today, precious and unusual.

The way he asked me for a date was perfect. “Would you like to go for a bike ride and have a salad after?” Ah, misquoted perhaps, but very close, and that’s the way you do it. I’ve never been a fan of, “Do you want to get together sometime?” Well, gee, can you be a little less vague? I’m not a fan of, “How about meeting for dinner at Stuffies Dress Up Restaurant?” either. The running joke has long been, “I just don’t think it’s going to be worth the make up.” (This from a girl who wore only lipstick today.)Such a perfect day!

When I’ve mentioned to people I was thinking of selling my car and getting a motorcycle, everybody has told me no in one way or another. “You can’t do that because…” “You need to get a bigger motorcycle than that, at least a 650.” And so on. I told TMIAASW my secret hope, and it’s really even riskier than a motorcycle: I want to not own any motorized vehicle. He said, “I wish I could do that.”

Not a single negative word came from his mouth as we talked about it. He didn’t even teasingly cast aspersions, as in the playful, “You know you’re crazy, don’t you?” Guess what? I know I’m NOT crazy. Have I found someone who agrees?

I cooked my veggies tonight. Fat free meal, just microwaved them. Was sidetracked on the bento box search again–this has been ongoing for years, why don’t I just pick one already?!

Back to him: he has the most delicious accent and knows more about Mexican food than most (grew up in Mexico City). I adore Mexican food; it’s my favorite cuisine. I own special dishes for Mexican meals. There’s not a culinary interest even close for me.

He’s right for me.  No, I don’t need several dates to figure this out. No, I’m not crazy, foolish, or desperate: I’m smart, and I’m very, very fortunate.

Yesterday was the first time I locked my bike and walked away from it. Oh my, it was anxiety producing. The man I am absolutely smitten with (TMIAASW) had the opportunity to watch my anxiety at work today: it took minutes for me to pick a place I felt comfortable parking it. Finally I stretched out on the blanket and could touch it with my toe: peace.

Bottom was sore until I started riding.  Really felt like going farther! Will get to bed early tonight and start early tomorrow a.m. to make up for lack o’ mileage.

Unusually low temperatures.

I was all super excited because I thought he worked on bicycles, but noes… but now excited because he actually will go riding! New friends who ride ROCK. He supported my assertion that as long as it feels ok, I can do it. Non-riders like to tell me what I can’t do.

Now if the rain could just go away. I want to do a little morning riding and dry would be such a nice change.

Had salsa for dinner; I heart my salsa. Oooh, I need to check on my salsa dancer.

I need to get very very very in shape, because riding a bicycle and wearing a bikini (ok, it’s a specialized riding outfit) seem to combine well for South Carolina summers.

Arms a bit tired. Legs good. Feet noes feel like walking.
